Hello from Rome!

For a new series which will be published here weekly, I've asked some friends in locked-down cities around the world to share their playlists so that you too might find respite in music, wherever you are.

This week, with playlists from Cicely Travers, Joanne Burke, Tim Moore, Emiliano Maggi, and me, our 1st Edition of PRIMAVERA PLAYLISTS comes from locked-down Rome.

PRIMAVERA PLAYLIST

MALEDETTA PRIMAVERA
by F Taylor Colantonio
, artist/designer
Creeping tension gives way to dreamlike melodies; driving riffs build to euphoric releases, culminating in Abba's 'The Visitors'. Through music we mimic the patterns of quarantine life. (This playlist opens in Spotify.)

Cruel Summer Cicely Travers

CRUEL SUMMER
by Cicely Travers, lingerie designer
Listeners go on the journey from seclusion to liberation with songs that explore themes of loneliness and isolation, self reflection, flight and finally freedom. (This playlist opens in Spotify.)

Light the Glide Joanne Burke

LIGHT THE GLIDE
by Joanne Burke
, jewelry artist
How many worlds in a drop of water glimpsed through a gate...
How do you crown the tallest structure when birds rule the watery maze?
Those birds could punch a hole in your head and the seas would light their glide,
The time before the sun comes up I think the moon will be a fish again.
(This playlist is embedded through SoundCloud.)

CHIMNEY CHIMES
by Emiliano Maggi
, artist
(The playlist is embedded through SoundCloud.)

LIMONIAMO
by Tim Moore
